The FLOATS program has been host to an international network of institutions from around the world. They have hosted academic research, conferences, and various courses.
American University of Beirut
The American University of Beirut (AUB) (Arabic: الجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت) is a major FLOATS host for Research, Pedagogy and Encounters. Relevant courses take place regularly in the Graduate Program in Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA), the Department of Anthropology, Sociology and Media Studies (SOAN), the Department of Politics Studies (PSPA), and the Department of Fine Arts and Art History. The AUB Headquarters in New York City hosted the cross-oceanic briefing (streamlined at AUB in Beirut) titled “How Communities Imagine the Sea and How the Sea Creates Communities”
COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY
The Columbia University in New York is a major FLOATS host for Research, Pedagogy and Encounters. Relevant courses have taken place in the Department of History, while the 2018 Winter Meeting "Capitalism At Sea" was co-organized with the Centre for the Study of Science and Society at Columbia University.
UNIVERSITY OF THE AEGEAN
The University of the Aegean is an important FLOATS host for Research and Encounters. FLOATS was launched in Lesvos, Greece in the summer 2018, in a conference which was co-organized with the Summer School of Borders, Migrations and Cultures and the Department of Anthropology and History at the University of the Aegean.
Archipelagos Institute
Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to researching and defending the biodiversity of the Greek seas and islands, as well as the NE Mediterranean. It was host to the Summer 2019 FLOATS research conference.
