Visualizing Palestine Solidarity at Sea

This platform redefines cartography to capture and map the intricate network of insurgent actions and solidarity movements at sea aligned with the Palestinian struggle. By visualizing acts of resistance, the project unveils the dimensions of insurgency, blockades, humanitarian efforts, and personal narratives that are often silenced in traditional mapping of conflict zones. Through a digital archive of actions, testimonies, and impacts, the platform constructs an alternative geography of resilience and defiance against occupation. Its mapping focuses on three critical sites of maritime solidarity: ports, where blockades disrupt military aid to Israel and highlight regional conflict dynamics; ships, which chronicle humanitarian efforts to breach Gaza’s siege lines; and seas, where Yemeni vessels challenge colonial constraints in the Red Sea, revealing geopolitical stakes and insurgent tactics. Employing a dual-layer approach, the platform combines a discursive analysis of the ideological narratives driving these actions with a technical lens on the logistics and technologies enabling them. Through an interactive timeline and map, this platform reimagines geography, foregrounding marginalized perspectives and compelling viewers to confront questions of spatial justice, resilience, and the enduring impact of the Palestinian struggle on global solidarity movements.
